PT spelled out is Physical Training, and what that means in simple terms is time that we as cadets devote to the physical requirements of being an Air Force Officer. We train our muscular and cardiovascular endurance for our Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) movements, and practice skills that will provide us with

a healthy lifestyle beyond our time in AFROTC.
On Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings at 0600, cadets come together to complete prescribed workouts written by myself or my technicians. Some of the workouts we’ve done this semester are bodyweight circuits, partner workouts, running, and cardio training, and even some weighted resistance training.
My philosophy as Physical Fitness Officer aligns with our Cadet Wing Commander’s desire to build physically fit and resilient cadets for not only their time in the program, but for the rest of their lives. The revamp in our training philosophy has allowed cadets to expand their knowledge of healthy habits and workouts, as well as revolutionized their idea of fitness.
The goal for the semester is to inspire cadets to take more accountability for their health and teach them positive habits to practice the rest of their lives. One way we measure our fitness as defined by the Air Force is through our Physical Fitness Diagnostics (PFD). We had our first diagnostic on 30 January, and the Cadet Wing performed well! Our second assessment of the semester was 27 February, and the results were even better than January’s, showing the strides our cadets can make with their fitness knowledge and training. The bar has been set high and it’s exciting to see what we all accomplish physically this semester!
