Hello, my name is Cadet Jared Gallub, and I am an AS400 here at Detachment 465. I am the Chief of Staff in our current cadet wing, and I am also an HPSP select candidate for 2025. HPSP stands for Health Professions Scholarship Program and grants qualified selected applicants a full tuition paid scholarship as well as a stipend. The HPSP is for medical and dental students who choose to serve as a doctor or dentist in the military. In exchange for those years of service, candidates go through medical/dental school debt free! Cadets wanting to apply for this program should let a cadre member know ASAP. This lets the cadre start gathering the information they will need to push your application through.

My advice to any cadets seeking a position as a physician in the United States Air Force: Never let doubt get in the way of your dream! There are going to be a lot of late nights and early mornings getting up for PT, studying for tests, and trying to balance AFROTC, School, and applications for medical school. Start early and get ahead. If you study hard as a AS100 and put in the work to have the highest GPA and be the best cadet that you can, it makes you undeniable when the time comes to apply for the HPSP. And if you do not get the HPSP right out of college, there will be other opportunities to reapply. Always remember though, being an officer in the Air Force is a privilege, not a guarantee. Accepting an AFSC outside of medicine is a gift in and of itself.

After graduation and commission this May, I plan to attend the University of Nebraska Medical School at UNMC and proceed with my journey to become an Air Force Physician. If anyone would like to contact me for more information, my email is jgallub2@huskers.unl.edu, or you can send me a Teams message.
